Brackmann enters into exclusive partnership with Lupa Technology
Brackmann is the first and only law firm in the Netherlands to enter into an exclusive Northern Lights Partnership with Lupa Technology. Lupa is one of the most advanced forensic AI platforms in the world, built by an international team of data scientists and engineers to capture the full complexity of large construction and infrastructure projects. The platform makes accessible what cannot be done by hand, from millions of emails and programmes to individual design changes and decisions. Brackmann combines that forensic analysis with legal insight and strategy.
AI analysis of project data at every stage of a construction project
Brackmann deploys Lupa throughout the life of a project. During delivery, Brackmann uses Lupa to identify delays, changes and approaching time limits, so that corrective action can be taken in good time. Where a claim or dispute arises, Brackmann uses Lupa to reconstruct the course of events and the evidence needed to assess and substantiate claims and responsibilities.
Lupa is unique in its ability to process the vast datasets that are specific to construction projects. The platform links, for example, revisions from BIM models, drawings and programmes to the project chronology, showing what changed in the design, when, and with what consequences. At the preparatory stage too, during tendering and contracting, the platform identifies risks early.
Developed through a year in practice
Over the past year, Brackmann has worked with Lupa on a number of matters, together with a select group of clients. The firm developed its own workflows and worked with Lupa to build a Legal Mode, which aligns the analyses even more closely with legal investigation. Brackmann and Lupa will continue to develop the platform together for the Dutch construction sector, in line with the highest standards of data security.
Gert Weerheim, partner, construction law, on the partnership with Lupa:
“As a specialist firm, we now have access to technology built for the largest construction projects and disputes. Over the past year, we have deployed Lupa successfully on a number of matters, and we can see that it is fundamentally changing our practice. Problems in a project exist before they become visible. With Lupa, we see them earlier, and if a dispute does arise, all the facts are already on the table.”
Vladimir Milovanovic, CEO of Lupa Technology, on Lupa’s choice of Brackmann:
“We chose Brackmann as our exclusive law office partner in the Netherlands because its specialist expertise in construction, procurement and environmental and planning law and its commitment to innovation closely match our own approach. Brackmann understands the Dutch construction market from the inside. Together, we’re combining advanced data science and AI with construction legal expertise to help clients make better decisions and build stronger, evidence-based positions.”
